An overview of OKlahoma History: 

The couse explores the geography and history of the state, from the time of the first European explores coming through our state in 1542, to the present. During the semester, your child will learn all 77 counties and thier county seats, the state's toprogaphy, and discuss what part of the nation Oklahoma best fits in. 

Historically, the course will look at several major themes: 

1. Theories of Native American arrivals to Oklahoma 

2. Exploration of the state 

3. Early Settlement and government 

4. Indian Removal by the U.S. Government 

5. Indian Territory (after the Trail of Tears to the Land Run) 

6. Our days as a Territory and the road to statehood

7. Oklahoma as a state (1907-present)
