Course Description: Current Events

This is a one semester class that will be taught to Sophomores in the fall semester and Freshmen in the Spring. This class requires oral and written participation on the part of your child. We will discuss and write opinion papers over events that are currently making headlines in our country. To give proper structure to the class, we will cover acceptable news events over politics, economics, international news, state news and yes, we will from time to time deal with popular culture and sports. The goal of the class is make your child aware of what is going on the world around him/her, explore and evaluate how it affects them (in many cases it does more then they realize) and teach them how to write, speak and think in a persussive manner.
