Welcome to Mrs. Stuckey’s Reading Room. I have taught here at Fargo-Gage for four years. Prior to this I was a Library Media Specilist for 13 years at the Guymon Middle School. I am also certified as a school counselor. My Masters Degree in Education is in English/Speech and Political Science/Psychology. I have lived in Arnett for over 40 years. I am a widow and I have four children and nine grandchildren.
I guide students towards an in depth understanding of how words affect our lives, beliefs and intellect and allow us to be life long learners. My vision is to help students develop a lifelong love for reading.
We use many reading strategies: decoding, reading immersion in fiction and non-fiction, oral group and independent reading,
timed oral readings, discussion, timed tests, creative writing, research, varied reading environments and daily goal setting.
We also use an award winning computer based program called “RAZ-KIDS” to improve reading comprehension. We work on reading fluency with the “Read Naturally Program.”
This year we have started an Advance Reading Club called ST Readers. It meets after school on Tuesdays in my room for an hour. The books we are reading this year center around the Civil War Period in history. We are reading the fiction book, “Gone with the Wind,” the biography, “Roots” and a historical account of “The Day Lincoln Was Shot.”
